Imperial offers Historic Duplications of ceiling medallions.  Send us broken medallion parts and we can recreate the original medallion like new. We can produce unique designed medallions from photos and submitted drawings. Ceiling Medallions can be created in ArchPolymerTM, Carved Hardwood & GRG-Neo-PlasterTM They can be made flexible from  ResinMold ® for vaulted ceilings and domes

 Service Options

For some situations it is nearly impossible to take down a chandelier so Imperial offers a detailed splitting service.

We pay attention to the pattern to find the best place to cut the medallion. We do not use a table saw that randomly cuts the medallion in half. By using a thin manual saw we take the time necessary to cut the medallion so it seamlessly goes back together in spite of loosing the thickness of the blade.  Here are a few pics of the process.

 Cutting Holes - Standard & Custom Sizes

Most receptacle boxes are 3-3/4 inches

If a medallion does not have a 3-3/4 inch hole we can drill a new one for you. This is done with a hole cutter and a drill

Just as a reminder the canopy does not go through the hole

We do offer hole cutting for non standard sizes to accommodate special needs.

COMMERCIAL PROJECTS

For non-wood materials (ie Composites) Fire Rating to Class A is required for all Interior Commercial applications.  Solid or Stave constructed Hardwoods for commercial projects is Rated Class B and is accepted as long as it is not made from a composite wood materials.  For exterior commercial projects ratings depend on local codes. 

RESIDENTIAL PROJECTS

Fire Rating to Class A is dependant on local fire codes for interior and exterior applications and generally is not specified.

Each material has it's own Fire Rating.  All of our medallions can be created as Class A

b) ArchPolymerTM Fire Rating applied with Fire Rated Primer can be applied 3 coats 72 hours between coats - for commercial certified coating specialist is required

Imperial Productions is a Design House offering custom designs and historic reproductions of architectural creations for the exclusive home or commercial offices and hospitality buildings.

 Pricing is based on Mold charges plus the number of  medallions. The mold

 charge gets disbursed amongst the number medallions ordered.

  Keeping within the  "golden rule of design" or Phi, they should be approximately 2/3rds larger

 than the widest part of the medallion.  Imperial is renowned for their large size & unique medallions.

 With all that being said it is what pleases you thus no rules rule !

  Any of our medallions can be made to a specific size.   This process is expensive but can be done

  for the discerning client or  larger scale commercial requests

 Design Idea:  How to Enlarge an Existing Medallion

  We all know that taking down the chandelier is difficult, so why not  just add an expansion ring to

 enlarge the existing Medallion without taking the fixture down.  Expansion rings offer a plain or

 decorative hollow circle that once installed will make any medallion appear larger and comply

 with the design principles of the "golden rule of design" (ie Phi)

 Apply the ring with the approved adhesive and use the spackling compound to fill any cracks. 

 Paint the flat drywall portion between the ring and your existing medallion either the same color

 or a different color.  You can even add rosettes in the gap area.

 GRG-NeoPlasterTM

 Any of our models are available in GRG-NeoPlasterTM

 It is a Light Weight Alpha Gypsum strong enforced plaster material that meets Class A or ASTM-E84 fire codes.

 It is 2-3lbs per sq foot for interior architectural elements.

 Simply tape and mud the medallion to a ceiling or wall. They are supplied hollow but can be

 special ordered with solid backs

  the custom product(s) will be made to the closest measurements that

  manufacturing allows (providing for manufacturing tolerances)

  Shop drawings are made as a courtesy for detail confirmations. They must

  be signed back within 10 days or production begins without them. 

  Any major changes noted on the shop drawings will be considered as

  extras and will be quoted accordingly as a schedule B which must be paid

  prior to production. 

  The application of the product to the job site is the responsibility of the

  architect, designer, structural engineer, or contractor.

  No affixing hardware is supplied.
