 of the 3 Greek orders

 of columns beginning

 in the mid 6th century BC.

 It's distinct scrolls or

 volutes are the main

 feature.  The top ring

 of the column is part

 of the capitals usually

 depicted with an egg and

 dart profile.  

 The base is always an

 Attic Style Column Base

 Smooth or Rope profiles.

 In the 18th Century the

 two scrolls became 4 as

 see in Scamozzi Columns.

 Roman Ionic columns can
